last day of escapism … well, let’s hope not!
May your Monday be mundane, but in the best of ways.

Now initially you might think you don't need or even want to know about
butyrate (ˈbjuːtɪˌreɪt) noun,
any salt or ester of butyric acid, containing the monovalent group C3H7COO- or ion C3H7COO–, and when you then bumped into this, having first found out it is in butter, you might well panic:

Clear plastic screwdriver handles are usually made from cellulose acetate butyrate, a material developed in the 1930s.

But then you would realize that lately it has had a great rise in reputation and helps maintain your biodome and aids in the production of key neurotransmitters that help both our gut and our brains to work. Apparently we make it when bacteria in our bellies ferment high fibre carbohydrates, but it is also, and here is the punchline, found in butter! The highest food source for it. I am relieved, and think I will just butter up everything!
At least these verbose scientist think so:

Not sure what it all is, but here’s what I was looking at:

and this:
google manganese dendrites. they often are confused for fossils for obvious reasons.
I concede manganese dendrites, but what about the last guy?
off the top of my head, i’m not sure what to call it. it appears to be metamorphic rock – rock altered by heat and pressure. the banding would suggest alternating layers of ocean sediment, so originally sand, shell, and mud layers that formed sedimentary layers of sandstone, limestone, and shale, that later were altered by intense heat and or pressure. for now i will WAG and call it dolomite, which is similar to but often incorrectly called limestone.
i will see if i can find out more later or anyone is welcome to disprove my theory first.
the purple color is likely due to mostly iron and lesser due to manganese. the transition elements are natures pigments.
this is an example of banded iron. the purple layers were once layers of sand, now jasper. the silver layers were layers of basically rust, now hematite. when early life on the planet introduced oxygen to the atmosphere, then all iron precipitated out of the oceans. in geological time, the event happened rather quickly. but i ramble.
edit: oops. my theory applies to both of the last two examples.
the truth is easier to swallow when presented with humor. a British accent doesn’t hurt either. not sure why.

Sweet thing, I watch you
Burn so fast it scares me
Mind games don’t leave me
Come so far, don’t lose me
It matters where you are
As the sun hits, she’ll be waiting
With the coffins under Heaven
Hey, hey lover, you’re still burning
You’re his song yeah
Sweet thing, I watch you
Burn so fast it scares me
My game, don’t lose me
Come so far don’t lose me
It matters where you are
As the sun hits, she’ll be waiting
With the coffins under Heaven
Hey, hey lover, you’re still burning
You’re his song yeah
Sweet thing I watch you
